Recipes for Life: Bagel Toppings

Everyday and Gourmet Bagel Toppings Recipes
When you’re bored of the regular lunch sandwich, the bagel comes rolling in.
We’ve got recipes to reach for to make your packed lunch that little bit more gourmet. Brought to you by 3 chefs across the Midland’s most foodie estate, Hampton Manor, each with their own flavour.
Our Cookery school tutor Sarah brings you every-day possibility. Adam, our baker, brings you something a little naughty – with wholesome ingredients. Sam, our development chef at Grace & Savour, serves up innovation from our Michelin-starred kitchen.

Pickled cucumber and labneh
Our first bagel topping recipe comes from our Cookery School at Hampton Manor, listed by Delicious magazine as one of the UK’s best cookery schools.
This bagel filling is great for that grab-and-go packed lunch. Using easy larder and fridge ingredients, you can always have these ready to go for your week ahead.
Cucumber quick pickle recipe:
60ml Vinegar, 60ml Water, 1tsp Honey, 1/2tsp Salt
Chop your cucumber and place in a jar. Fill your jar with a solution on the above ratios, double or triple as required according to jar size.
Labneh recipe:
Mix 4 cups full fat yoghurt with 3/4 teaspoon salt. Place in a cheesecloth or muslin and tie up in a knot. Hang it over a bowl, to catch the drips, for 12 to 24 hours depending on the texture you’d like.
This set of recipes is now in your hands because people have been queuing up for our Bagel workshop. Get yourself in on the action for freshly baked rings of wonder, straight out of your oven every week.

Our second recipe comes from our Bakery at Hampton Manor.
As one of Britain’s Best Bakeries, we have trails of guests queuing each week, winding out of our garden gate.
Whilst bagels aren’t on our counter, you’ll find sourdough, cinnamon buns, sausage rolls, basque cheesecake, almond croissants and a whole host of viennoiserie pastry treats just 13 mins direct on the train from Birmingham New Street. It’s a 5 minute saunter from Hampton-in-Arden train station, straight into our walled garden bakery.
This bagel topping is inspired by our ndjua brioche and hot honey brioche.
