It’s a Riddle
Mr Watkins begins his honest review for Riddle Magazine by describing Hampton Manor as an oasis of relaxation and calm, set on the outskirts of Birmingham. He succinctly notes that ‘food is at the heart of the Hampton Manor experience.’ That’s for sure!
He liked his bedroom, Henrietta Maria, with ‘plenty of natural light’ and its ‘deep antique bath and large walk in shower.’ Rupert then talks his reader through his afternoon; walking in the grounds, drinking ‘a restoring cup of Earl Grey’ and commencing his dining experience at Peel’s.
Dish by dish he dissects Rob’s four course tasting menu and accompanying wine flight. Two particular highlights are the wagyu beef, twice, and the clever idea to match dessert (Blood Orange sorbet) with ‘Loic’s cocktail with gin, lemon, anise and cardamon.’
He concludes by contemplating that the Manor ‘offers a wonderful spot to escape to leave the world at the door and enjoy a decent break.’
